Research: Benchmarking and stakeholder surveys. Utilizing our current company personas as a baseline to make sure all customer paths would be accounted for.

The Challenge

This project was brought to my attention by our sales team. In their competitive research of other retail platforms like Amazon and many others, they have created a shopping list app as a tool for customers to organize products together to buy at a later date and time. This has become an industry-standard tool.

Research & Insights

Design Approach

Step 1 - Ideation & Business Requirements: Led meetings with the product owner and business team to gather business requirements for this tool. We wanted to stay consistent with other retailers that have created the same tool in order to with best practices but also improve upon them.

Step 2 - Wireframes and Prototypes: Utilizing the research done and benchmarking efforts I created a batch of wireframes to start laying out what each page would look like and consist of in order to accommodate the business requirement as well as persona requirements.

Step 3 - High-Fidelity UI: Based on the wireframe I created a high-fidelity mockup of each page in all key device sizes.

Step 4 - Delivery: The last step was to deliver the mockups and page assets to the dev team for creation and work with them through their development in order to QA the final result of development for consistency.

As a result of and adoption of the new tool. We were able to attract a large population of our current user base to start using the new shopping list tool and received great feedback and praise on it.

Research Artifacts

Reviewing how the largest retailer in the world has designed their Lists experience was important in the creation of the new Amway lists. To ensure we created an experience people were already familiar with.
